Band Boosters Mission

The Band Boosters organization provides support to three growing band programs in the Ball Chatham School District in central Illinois, serving more than 400 students in grades 5 – 12. We help fund instrument purchases and repairs, scholarships for band camp, marching uniform maintenance and snacks and refreshments at concerts and band events.

Get Involved

Parental involvement is vital to the success of Band Programs offered by our Band Directors located at Glenwood Intermediate School, Glenwood Middle School and Glenwood High School. Below are just a few ways to help our students and directors. A Ball Chatham School District 5 Background Check must be done every year prior to volunteering. Please check the box for "chaperone or classroom helper."

Chaperones

Only parents or guardians of Glenwood Band members are allowed to chaperone. Chaperones are required on every bus for every trip the band takes. A chaperone's responsibility is to:

  • Ride the bus with students
  • Take attendance
  • Help with uniforms
  • Collect and store valuables
  • Ensure bus cleanliness

Uniforms

Uniform parents help manage and maintain band uniforms throughout the season:

  • Issue and fit uniforms
  • Make minor repairs
  • Spot clean uniforms
  • Ensure proper storage
  • Collect uniforms post-season

Pit Crew

The pit crew is essential for performance logistics:

  • Move front ensemble equipment
  • Assemble drum major podiums
  • Help with field entry/exit
  • Support equipment transport

Fundraisers

Support various band events and activities:

  • Jazz Band Events
  • Solo & Ensemble
  • Pep Band
  • Special fundraising events

Water Brigade

Keep our performers hydrated during events:

  • Manage water stations
  • Fill and maintain coolers
  • Distribute water bottles
  • Support during football games

Scholarships

Band Boosters provide scholarship opportunities:

  • Summer Band Camp assistance
  • Requires family volunteering
  • Two non-paid opportunities
  • Good financial standing required
