GMS Concert Bands

The GMS Bands are audition-based ensembles for 7th and 8th grade students. Band students can continue
their band experience by participating in one of our two concert ensembles. Placement in either the Symphonic
Band or Concert Band is based on ability level determined through an audition process held during the spring
semester of the previous school year. Members of GMS Bands have numerous performance opportunities throughout the year, including:

• Glenwood High School homecoming parade
• Winter and Spring concerts
• SEMA Solo and Ensemble competition
• IESA Organizational contests
• Various school and community events

The ensemble focuses on performing high-quality middle school band literature tailored to the ability level of its members, exposing students to a variety of musical styles and genres while challenging them to achieve at a high level.
